Almeda Jordan Williams

Almeda "Gussie" J. Williams, age 94, departed this life on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at West Jefferson Medical Center. She was a native of Waggaman, LA and a resident of Westwego, LA for the past 70 years. Gussie as she was affectionately called by family and friends was a retired cafeteria worker with the Jefferson Parish School System. Beloved wife of the late Oliver "Big O" Williams. Loving mother of Tyrone and the late Gregory Williams. Mother-in-law of Barbara and Lydia Williams. Grandmother of Kenya, Brandon and Ronell Williams. Daughter of the late Ernest and Beulah Jordan. Sister of Ernest Jordan of New York and the late Lawrence and Luke Jordan. Sister-in-law of Lillian Van Buren, Grace (Melvin) Brown of Thibodaux, LA, Betty (Rev. Levi) Jones of Belle Rose, LA and the late Hazel Robertson; also survived by 6 great grandchildren and host of other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of True Vine Baptist Church, Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church of Marrero, LA, Mt Zion Baptist Church of Gretna, LA and all neighboring churches; employees of Jefferson Parish School System and faculty, staff and students of L. W. Higgins High School are invited to attend the Funeral Service at True Vine Baptist Church, 249 Sala Ave. Westwego, LA on Monday, October 6, 2014 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Leander Johnson, officiating.
