Irene Simmons peacefully entered into eternal rest at her residence on Monday, October 13, 2014 at the age of 74. She was a native of Bridge City, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Irene was employed at Brent House Hotel. Beloved wife of Joseph Simmons. Loving mother Leslie (Jonathan) Cryer of Austin, TX, Darnell Brual, Linda Brual, Robin (Jeffery) Brual, and Joey (Carlin) Brual. Devoted grandmother of Damon Brual, Sr. whom she raised. Daughter of the late Willie Washington, Sr. and Eliska Nelson Washington. Sister of Maggie Williams, Cora Mae Washington, Edward John Washington, Sr. of Bryan, TX, Donald (Barbara) Washington of Baton Rouge, LA, Harold (Patricia) Washington and the late Willie Washington, Jr. and Tommy Brual, Jr. Godmother of Shaun Washington. Sister-in-law of Gloria (Barry) Walker, Geraldine (Albert) Lewis, Earline (Edward) Johnson, Ardena (Kenneth) McTier, Joyce Simmons and the late Charles and Lloyd Simmons; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends.
