YNC Charles Ellis Turner, Jr. (USNR Ret), age 59, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 4, 2014. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA. Jackie as he was affectionately called by family and friends served his country as a Chief Officer of the United States Navy for 20 years retiring from duty in 1997. Upon retirement he became employed as a contractor in the U.S. Army's educational assistance programs and later as a financial computer analyst for the District of Columbia Housing Authority. Charles lived in the Washington, D.C. and Alexandria, VA area for more than 20 years before returning home a few years ago. Beloved husband of the late Linda Leigh Johnson-Barrett Turner. Loving father of Kevis Turner King, Sr. (Alicia), Charles Ellis Turner, III, Carl Turner, Craig Barrett, Chris Barrett (Andrea), Tijuana Natasha Young, Cecily Barrett,Timothy and Kenneth Quillers. Son of Emma Kamilyah Wilson Abdullah and the late Charles Ellis Turner, Sr. Grandson of the late Willie Cal Wilson, Sr., Hannah Jane Mason Wilson, Ellis Turner and Pearl Jones Turner. Brother of Taahirah Nadir (Sharif), Galithia Johnson, Gill, Desmond, and Ted Turner. Nephew of Thomas Ali Nuriddin (Shahidah), Flowers Wilson, Willie Cal Wilson, Sr. (Doris), Mable Wilson Bradley, Debra Wilson, and Ruby Turner-Wells. Great nephew of Gracie Mason Craft. Loving and devoted companion of Arlene Stanberry. Devoted friend of Wayne Walters and Keith Raboteau; also survived by 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandson and a host of other relatives and friends.
