John Henry Johnson, Jr.

John Henry Johnson, Jr., a retired employee of the United States Postal Service, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 14, 2014 at the age of 66. He was a native of Harvey, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. John was a 1966 graduate of Lincoln High School and served his country as a sergeant in the United States Army. He later joined the U.S. Air Force Reserve and was honorably discharged in 1976. Loving father of Shannon Johnson, Doral Johnson, Tanika (Byron) Davis, Iesha (Duane) Neveu, Javon (Solomon) Hodges, Jarday (Darren) Towns and the late Tracy Johnson. Son of the late Rev. John H. Johnson, Sr. and Daisy M. Johnson. Grandson of the late Freddie and Dora Smith Johnson. Brother of Walter (the late Sylvia), Harry (Burdette), and Rev. Ricky (Terry Lynn) Johnson, Fay (the late Ronald) Williams, Olga Mae Williams, Audrey Burd, GeJoan (Warren) Garrett, Pamela (Wilhelm) Allen and the late Oscar Johnson. Former husband of the late Catherine M. Johnson by first marriage and former husband to Mary Lillie Johnson by second marriage; also survived by 19 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Mount Olive Baptist Church and all neighboring churches; employees of the United States Post Office are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 1701 Estalote St. Harvey, LA on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Ricky Johnson, officiating Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time at the above named church.
