Mattie Williams Wilson

Mattie L. Wilson, a retired Jefferson Parish Public School teacher, entered into eternal rest and paradise on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at the age of 66. She was a native of Centerville, MS and a resident of Marrero, LA. Mattie was a graduate of Dillard University and later attended Xavier University Masters of Education Program with only 3 hours away from completion. Beloved wife of the late Ellis Wilson, Sr. Loving mother of Ellis D. Wilson, Jr. and Errin D. Wilson. Stepmother of Chrystalynn Carr. Adored grandmother of Aden Wilson-Jones. Daughter of the late Isaac Williams, Sr. and Alice Douglas-Williams. Sister of Leon Douglas, Gary Williams, Frederick Williams, Francis Jenkins, Dorothy Washington, Velma Tyler, Janice Brochard and the late Arthur Williams and Isaac Williams, Jr.; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, beloved friends and former students. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of New Hope Baptist Church and all neighboring churches; employees of Jefferson Parish School System are invited to attend the Life and Homegoing Celebration at New Hope Baptist Church, 434 7th St. Gretna, LA on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 11:00a.m. Pastor Warren Johnson, officiating Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the above named church.
