Joseph C Birke

Joseph Carver Birke, age 73, entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 5, 2015. He was a native of Mobile, AL, a former resident of Birmingham, AL and presently residing in Harvey, LA. Joseph served his country as a member of the United States Navy and retired after 22 years of service. He was also employed with the VA Hospital and US Merchant Marines from which he retired in 2010. Beloved husband of Delores Birke. Father of Jacqueline (Daryl) Bates, and Michael (Shawn) Birke. Grandfather of Jordan and Jared Bates. Son of the late Carrie and Edwin Birke. Brother of Francis (Martha) Birke, Andrew (Regina) Birke, Lucille English, Helen Powell and the late Edwin Birke and Betty Washington. Godfather of James W. Brown; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Davis Mortuary Service, 6820 Westbank Expressway Marrero, LA on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 10:00a.m. Pastor T. A. Hodge, officiating Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time at the above named parlor.
