Florence Walker

Florence "Flo" Walker went home to be with the Lord on January 16, 2015 at age 87. She was born on April 2, 1927 in Lettsworth, Louisiana. The beloved daughter of the late Jeff and Melvina Williams was raised in church. She accepted the Lord at an early age. She was very active in church throughout her life. She continued her service as a member of Word of Faith Temple Baptist Church under the direction of Elder John P. Helire Sr. She worked in retail for 40 years, finally retiring at age 76. She will be remembered as the hardworking matriarch of her loving family. Flo was preceded in death by her loving husband Robert Walker Sr. and ten brothers and sisters. She is survived by two siblings, Maudry Williams and Rosemary Lafayette, eleven children JoAnn Thornton Hamilton, Jerry Thornton, Delores Thornton, Arthur Thornton (Betsy), Felma Thornton Nodd ( Ronald), Bert Walker ( Linda), Robert Walker Jr., Donald Ray Walker, Mary Walker, Vincent Walker ( Debra) and Angela Walker, fourteen Grandchildren Shannon Jackson, Alisha Jackson Okoro( Fidel), Denelro Thornton, Troy Thornton, Ronald Nodd Jr., Quinton Nodd, Kishon Bovia, Theo Johnson, Donita Walker, Donald Walker Jr., Dasmeon Caraway, Jasmine Ferbos, Gabrielle Walker, Vionne Walker and Montrell Walker. She will also be missed by ten Great Grandchildren, twelve Great-Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Members of Word of Faith Temple Baptist Church and employees of Rainbow are invited to attend the services at New Kingdom Baptist Church, 3611 St. Ferdinand Street, N.O., La 70117 on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 10:00a.m. Visitation hours will be 9:00-10:00am.
