Ethel Smith Butler, an X-ray Tech, entered into eternal rest at Canon Hospice on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 6:40a.m. Wife of Wilfred Butler, Sr. Mother of Evangelist Janice Payne, Mary Robinson, Wilfred (Karen) Butler, Jr., and the late Deborah Carraby. Daughter of the late David and Martha Smith. Sister of David Smith, Jr., Jonathan Smith, and Beatrice Braggs. Preceded in death by 4 sisters and 1 brother, also survived by 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Age: 79 years a native of Houma, La. and a resident Avondale, La. Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of Second St. John Baptist Church and neighboring churches: employees of East Jefferson Hospital and Elmwood Medical Center are invited to attend the funeral service at Second St. John Baptist Church 242 Avondale Garden Rd. Avondale, La. on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 10:00a.m. Rev. Charlie Davis Officiating Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the above name church.
