Doretha Hawkins Roman

October 3, 1924 — January 15, 2015

Doretha Hawkins Roman peacefully entered into eternal rest on January 15, 2015 at the age of 90 years. She was a native of Donaldsonville, LA. and a resident of New Orleans, LA. Beloved wife of the late Albert Roman. Mother of Linda Lewis, Alvin (Dorothy) Roman, Doretha Augustus, Anthony (Shelia) Roman, Debra Roman, Albert (Toni) Roman, Allen (Michele) Scott, and the late Ernest (Mildred) Watkins, Earline Wilson, Arthur (Mary) Roman, and Rosalind Roman. Daughter of the late Richard and Mathilda Hawkins. Sister of Richard Hawkins, Diane Hawkins Jones, and the late Henry "Buddy" Hawkins, also survived by 19 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also priest and parishioners of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, St. Augustine Catholic Church, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Bethesda House of Prayer, and St. Jude Catholic Church. Employees of Louis Armstrong Family Services and members of NAACP are all invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1923 St. Phillip Street, New Orleans, LA. Rev. J. Asare-Dankwah officiating Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. until service time at the above named church Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery-New Orleans, La.
