Melvin James Bennett, Sr. peacefully entered into eternal rest at Ochsner Medical Center Westbank on Monday, February 9, 2015 at the age of 51. He was a native of Algiers, LA and a resident of Gretna, LA. Loving father of DanNisha (Alex) Bennett, DeLisa (Damian) Alexander, and Melvin (Shirell) Bennett, Jr. Father figure to Tynessia Jackson and Chante Williams. Beloved son of the late Grant Murray Bennett and Theresa Smith Earl. Stepson of Lawrence Earl, Jr. Grandson of the late Louvenia and Ernest Smith. Brother of Adolph Bennett, Sr., Walter Smith, Ernest Ruffin, Sr., Nikkitta, Dianna Bennett, Vennetta Waller, Merilyn Ross, and the late Ardelphus Bennett, Sr. Nephew of Anna S. Perkins and James Smith. Devoted friend of Darlene Pichon; also survived by 14 grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Mt.
