Albert Burts Martin, Sr.

Albert "Pops" Burts Martin, Sr., age 85, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at West Jefferson Medical Center. He was a native of Algiers, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Albert was a retired employee of Johns Manville Corporation and served his country for 4 years as a member of The U. S. Army. Devoted husband of Betty Watson Martin. Loving father of Iris Whickam, Constance (Maurice) Pierce, Alwin Mitchell, Pastor Albert (Twlia) Martin, Jr. and the late Allan Randy Martin. Son of the late Clarence, Sr. and Elnora Hadley Martin. Brother of Rev. Robert, John, Richard (Leah), Edward (Dorothy) and Fred Martin, Josephine Jenkins, Edna Green and Hazel (Willie) McKinney; also survived by 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 6 sisters-in-law, 6 brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Real Love Interracial Fellowship, Second Zion Baptist Church, Greater Faith Christian and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Second Zion Baptist Church, 6520 Second Zion Ave. Marrero, LA on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 10:00a.m. Pastor James Nelson Brown, host pastor; Pastor Albert Martin, Jr., officiating Visitation will being at 8:00a.m. until service time at the above named church.
