Kent W. Simmons, Sr.

Kent W. Simmons, Sr., age 86, departed this life on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the V. A. Hospital in Long Beach, CA. He was a native of Gretna, LA and a resident of New Orleans, LA. Kent was a retired employee of the U. S. Postal Service and served his country for 21 years as a member of the United States Air Force from which he was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. Beloved husband of the late Jewell M. Simmons. Loving father of Debra (Jerry) Schools, of Fayetteville, GA, Kathleen Simmons, Kent W. Simmons, Jr. of New Orleans, LA, Steven W. Simmons, Sr. of Lakewood, CA and Paul W. Simmons. Son of the late Henry Simmons and Climars Shields Simmons. Brother of the late Warren H. Simmons, Dilcey Simmons Jones and Rosie Simmons Williams; also survived by 7 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of New Hope Baptist Church and neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at New Hope Baptist Church, 434 Seventh St. Gretna, LA on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 10:00a.m. Rev. Warren E. Johnson, officiating Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the above named church.
