Sonia Veronica Watkins

Sonia Veronica Watkins peacefully entered into eternal rest at Ochsner Medical Center Main Campus on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the age of 65. She was a native and resident of New Orleans, LA. Sonia earned an Associate of Arts degree from Walla Walla Community College in Walla Walla, WA, and was employed as an administrative assistant with the Recovery School District of New Orleans until her retirement. She also had a passion for hair and makeup and was a self employed cosmetologist for many years. Beloved wife of Reginald Watkins. Loving and devoted mother of Danielle (Jeffery, II) Vappie, Tiffany Watkins, Rechell (Stanley) Watts, and Wednesday Watkins. Daughter of the late Willie Mae Draughn and Jessie Cleveland Draughn, Sr. Sister of Desi (Edith) Draughn, Sr., Jessie (Terry) Draughn, Jr., Stassi (Arnold, Sr.) Mosley, Pamela Draughn, Alva Draughn and the late Linda Wells and Everette Draughn; also survived by 9 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Asbury United Methodist Church and neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Asbury United Methodist Church, 2725 Ernest St., New Orleans, LA on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 9:00a.m. Rev. Simon Chigumira, officiating Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time at the above named church.
