Alford Donald Gibson

Alford Donald "Big Al" Gibson transitioned from life to glory while sleeping at his residence on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at the age of 68. He was a native of Ironton, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Alford was a graduate of Grambling State University and an inductee into their Baseball Hall of Fame. After 33 years as a Production Foreman he retired from Texaco/Chevron in 2007. Beloved husband of Marva Lee Garrison Gibson for 48 years. Loving father of Don O. (Kelly) Gibson and Donya Lynn Gibson. Devoted grandfather of Destinee George, Myriel Thibodeaux, Donovan, Joshua, Gavin, and Jeremy Gibson. Son of the late Herman Gibson, Sr. and Alice Jason Gibson. Brother of Ernest (Brenda) and twin Anthony (Diane) Gibson and the late Jacqueline (Kenneth) Johnson, and Pastor Herman (Irma) Gibson, Jr. Brother in law of Louise (Elder Sterling) Perkins, Patricia Garrison, Leo (Charlotte) Garrison, Sr., and Nadrine (Pastor Woodrow) Hayden. Godfather of Kardenia Bell, Karen Green, Dominiqueka Howard, JaLiska McGee, and Cody Ross. Devoted friend of Vivian Peacock, Tyrone Jenkins, Rene Lee, and Allen Green. With a big heart he embraced Jamaal Henry as his son , Amanda and Benjamin Hayden as his grandchildren , also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of Solid Rock, Greater Bright Morning Star, Mt.
