Iris Rita Pitts

Iris Rita Pitts entered into eternal rest at Canon Hospice on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at the age of 82. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA. Iris was a retired housekeeping supervisor of Touro Shakespeare Home. Loving mother of Cynthia Hawkins and Ephfrain Watkins. Great grandmother of the late Jacquez Young. Daughter of the late Charles Pitts, Sr. and Alice Thomas Pitts. Sister of Joseph (Janet) Pitts, Sr., Charles (Renita) Pitts, Jr., Dorothy Walker, Cecile (Willie) Pettus of Philadelphia, PA, Edith (James) Peters, Alicia Geary, and the late Carrie Selico, Betty Jean Jacques, Pearl Pitts and Calvin “PaPa” Pitts; also survived by 2 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of St. Paul Baptist Church, True Hope Ministries and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at True Hope Ministries, 1228 Cohen St. Marrero, LA on Thursday, February 4, 2016. Pastor Orin Grant, Sr., officiating, Pastors Allen Sonnier, Sr. and Laurie Sonnier, host pastors. Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time at the above named church. Interment: McDonoghville Cemetery-Gretna, LA
