Betty Jean Lewis Higgins entered into eternal rest at the age of 75 on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Ochsner Medical Center. She was a native of Vacherie, LA and resident of Marrero, LA. . Wife of the late David Higgins, Sr. Beloved mother of Vernon (Lisha) Batiste Sr. and Debbie (Rev. Dr. Charles) Mack. Stepmother of Lawrence "Mike" (Sharon) Refuge, Gail (Lawrence) Jackson, Travis (Geneva) Refuge, Myra (Terry) Houston, Janice Phillips, Donald, Kevin, Michael and Annette Higgins. Grandmother of Quiniece (Byron) Dolliole, Renard Smith, Sr., Vernon Batiste Jr., Dione Wilson, Alonzo Batiste and Christopher Batiste. Daughter of the late Richmond Lewis, Sr. and Corinne Fletcher Lewis. Sister of James Lewis, Sr., Bertha Boyd, Richmond, Jr., Curtis (Sandra) Lewis and the late Annie Mae Jones, Leanna Brown and Patsy (James) Elliot. Godmother of Susan Lewis, Anthony Fletcher, and Chassidy Hadley. Sister-in-law of Percy Payne, also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family & friends. Relatives and friends of the family and Members of St. Mark B.C. , Amozion B.C., Regular B.C and St. Rock B.C. and neighboring churches; members of 1st District, and Westside Baptist Associations; employees of Hibernia National Bank are invited to attend her Celebration of Life at Rock of Ages Baptist Church 6533 Acres Road, Marrero, LA. on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 10:00a.m. (Host Pastor Gilbert Barnes) Pastor Joseph L. Hampton, officiating Visitation begins at 8:00a.m. at the above named church.

Interment: Woodlawn Park Memorial Cemetery- Westwego, LA.
