Oscar Jordan departed this temporal life on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Ochsner Medical Center Westbank at the age of 78. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Terrytown, LA. Oscar was a 1955 graduate of Capitol Senior High School in Baton Rouge, LA. After graduation, he joined the United States Navy, where he served for 25 years in the Race Relations Department. With a desire to help veterans, Oscar joined the staff of V. A. Hospital in New Orleans, where he served for 33 years as an Addiction Therapist, retiring in 2011.
Beloved husband of 58 years to Eloise Jordan. Loving father of Yolanda (Jason) Woods, Natalie (Ricky) Turner and Oscar (Venetrice) Jordan, Jr. Grandfather of Jeffery (Donna) Hill, Oscar Jordan, II, and Nathanal Jordan. Great great grandfather of Elise, Elivia, Eleaha, and Jeffery Hill, II. Only child of the late Charlie and Mary Jones Jordan. Brother-in-law of Edward (Sylvia K.) Barnes and John James, Jr. Uncle of John Eric (Mona) James, Dana L. James, Edward (Mona) Barnes, Jr., and Gregory E. (Karen) Barnes; also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at the Belle Chasse Naval Air Base Good Shepherd Chapel, 400 Russell Ave. Bldg. 403, Belle Chasse, LA on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 10:00a.m.
Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the above named chapel.
Interment: Monday, March 28, 2016 at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery-Slidell, LA
