Julia Ella Roy

Julia Ella Joseph Jackson-Roy, a homemaker, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the age of 91. She was a native and resident of Gretna, LA. She was a Deaconess and member of the Feeding Ministry at Mt Sinai Baptist Church. Julia was a past Matron of Pride of Gretna #60 Order of Eastern Star and a Volunteer at Gretna Community and Senior Centers. Loving wife of Thomas Roy, Sr. Devoted mother of Judy M. Jackson Bosley-Ketchens and the late Rev. Walter C. Jackson, Jr. Stepmother of Patricia Roy (Reginald) Watson and Thomas Roy, Jr. Grandmother of Dawna Michelle (Mark) Villafona of Uniondale, NY   Roderick M. Bosley, Sonja Batson, both of Sacramento, CA, Tiffany (Aurelius) Thorn, and Ashley Jackson of Houston, TX , Vernika (fiancé Harvey Brown), Elydia and Julie Ketchens, Regina Watson and the late Reginald Watson, Jr. Great grandmother of the late Jaela Amelia Celestine. Daughter of the late Minor Joseph, Sr. and Amelia Peters-Joseph. Mother-in-law of Wilma R. Jackson of Houston, TX. She was preceded in death by her 12 siblings; also survived by 15 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Mt Sinai Baptist Church, St. Paul Baptist Church and all neighboring churches; members of Westside Prayer Warriors and Westside Sunday School Congress are invited to attend the Wake Service at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church 1249 LeBoeuf St., Algiers, LA on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 7:00p.m. Pastor Dudley Watson, officiating Visitation will being at 6:00p.m. until service time at the church.
