Wilbert Junius Hampton

Wilbert Junius Hampton departed this life on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 4:40 A.M. in Tulane University Hospital. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a retiree of Avondale Shipyard, and a faithful deacon of Israel Baptist Church in Harvey, LA. He was a native of Thibodaux, LA and a long time resident of Harvey, LA. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to all who knew him. He was the husband of the late, Elvera Reed Hampton; the loving father of Joy Hampton, Kim Hampton, Shawn Hampton, and the late Sharon Hampton, Sheila Hampton-Jackson and Wilbert Hampton Jr.; grandfather of Oberon Jackson, Aaron Jackson, Ashley Hampton, and Amber Hampton; great-grandfather of Autumn Hampton; son of the late Mitchell H. Hampton and Ellen Thomas Hampton; brother of Thelma Leonard, Vera Washington, Cora Hampton, Leola Campbell, Thomas Hampton and the late Essie Williams, Audrey Johnson, Mitchell Hampton Jr. and Norman Hampton. He leaves to cherish his memories a host of other relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, May 28, 2016 for 10:00 A.M. at Israel Baptist Church, 1612 Esther Street, Harvey, LA, Pastor Johnny McKinnies, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:00 A.M. until the church service commences. Interment: St. Paul Baptist Church Cemetery – Thibodaux, LA.
