Melvin Frank Walker

Melvin Frank Walker was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at Touro Hospital at the age of 72. He was a native of Marrero, LA (Walkertown Community) and a resident of Harvey, LA. Melvin was a graduate of Lincoln High School and Grambling College. He served his country as a member of the United State Army. Melvin was a retired Investigator of the Jefferson Parish DA Office, and was owner/founder of Walker Institute of Business & Technology. Beloved husband of Regina Dumas-Walker. Devoted father of Melvin Frank (Sharon) Walker, Jr., Anitra Walker (Donnell) Pittman, and his niece Awayna Butler whom he raised and loved as a daughter. Great-grandfather of the late Chloe McKenzie Sullivan. Loving son of Clara Johnson Walker and the late Frank Elisha Walker. Brother of Eugene (Cora) Jones, Reginald (Esther) Walker, Troy (Wanda) Walker, Clara Lynn Neal, and the late Arlene Walker Jackman. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers-in-law, and 1 sister-in-law; also survived by 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 7 brothers-in-law, 9 sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church and all neighboring churches; members of Lincoln High School Class of 1962 and Grambling College Class of 1966; employees of Jefferson Parish DA Office are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1000 Walkertown Way Marrero, LA on Friday, July 15, 2016 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Thomas J. Brown, Jr., officiating Viewing will be held from 8:00a.m.-9:50a.m. ONLY at the above named church Interment: Christian Social Cemetery-Gretna, LA
