Margaret Smith Louis, age 83, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at her residence. She was a native of Bridge City, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Margaret was a retired Lieutenant of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. Beloved wife of the late James Louis. Loving mother of Ivera Jones, Gary, Craig, and Greg Louis, Shelia Sylvester, Leander Smith and the late Marshall and James Harold Louis. Foster mother of Demetra Gandy, Carla Searles, Russell Obey, Jr., and the late Troylynn Casby. Daughter of the late Hazekiah Smith and Dorether Thomas Smith. Granddaughter of the late Kanzita Coleman and Ruffin Thomas. Sister of Samuel Smith, Eunice Boudoin, and the late Alvin Wright, Calvin and Hazekiah Smith, Shirley Eugene and Justine Obey; also survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Second Salvation Baptist Church and all neighboring churches; employees of Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and members of the Fraternal Order of Police are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Second Salvation Baptist Church, 212 Marrero St. Bridge City, LA on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time at the church.
