James “Turkey Bird” Fernandez, Jr. peacefully entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at his residence. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA. James retired from NOCS Cold storage after 40 years as a Forklift Driver. Loving Husband of Jimmetta Walker Fernandez. Devoted father of Sheryl Walker, Renice Robinson, Janise Ventris, Kisha (Gerald) Harris, Janecca Ventris, Channette (Kareem) Marshall, Rene Ventris, Lenny Ventris and Sterling (Nicole) Ventris. Grandfather of the late DeJuannique and Alexia Harris. Son of the late James Fernandez, Sr., and Rita Duncan. Stepson of the late Matthew Duncan. Brother of Patricia Zeno, Rita Pixley, Cecile Duncan, Helen (John) Hosley, Yvonne (Monroe) Duncan, Shirley (Ernest) Barnes, Victor Fernandez, Teddy, Matthew and Leonard Duncan, and the late Ethel Henry, Angie Jackson, and Marguerite Duncan. Son-in-law of the late Beatrice Walker. Brother- in-law of Precious Tribble, Beatrice (Gaylen) Spencer, Carolyn (Garry) Brown, Ruby Walker, Percy (Rosalyn) Williams, Prentiss (Carolyn) Williams, Albert (Joyce) Williams and Alvin Taylor. Godfather of Eric Pixley; also survived by 27 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Little Zion Baptist Church #3 and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Little Zion Baptist Church #3, 441 Wilson St. Marrero, LA on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Norman Smith, officiating Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time at the church.
