Russell Kirkland departed this life on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the age of 36. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Russell was a free spirited young man seeking his free embodied rights. Son of the late Carlton Gray, Sr. and Andromeda Kirkland. Stepson of Alice Gray. Grandson of Elaine Kirkland Watkins. Brother of Carlton (Evelyn) Gray, Jr., Steven Gray, Zabuloina Kirkland Burt and Oriendia (Gerald) Greer. Special uncle of Iesha Joseph. Nephew of Reginald Gray and Ella Coleman, for which he shared a special bond; also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of New Zion Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at New Zion Baptist Church, 1131 Garden Rd. Marrero, LA on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Austin Dennis, officiating Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the above named church.
