Leroy Banks, a resident of Marrero, LA, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the age of 73. He was one of nine children born to the union of the late Roland Banks and Ella Mae Young Banks of Thibodaux, LA. He loved to play the guitar, piano and keyboard, and passionately wrote short stories and songs. He also liked to engage in talk radio, and participate in political conversations. He graduated from the Baton Rouge School for the Blind, and attended the University of New Orleans for four years. Loving brother of Edward Joseph Banks, Sr., Lionel Banks, Sr., Debra Banks Bedgood, and the late Roland, Nolan and Isiah Banks, Loretta Thomas Williams, and Jacquelyn Banks Vincent. Brother-in-law of Elaine Banks, Evelyn Banks and Lorenza Bedgood. He was like a second father to Michael T. Williams, his nephew, who resided with him for a number of years. Leroy leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Heavenly Star Baptist Church, Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, and neighboring churches are invited to attend the funeral service at DAVIS MORTUARY SERVICE, 6820 WESTBANK EXPRESSWAY MARRERO, LA on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 10:00 A.M.
Rev. Dr. Aubrey Wallace, Breaking Bread Ministries, Officiating Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time at the parlor. Interment: Woodlawn Park Memorial Cemetery, Westwego, LA
