Minister Shirley Ann Hawkins was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Ochsner Medical Center Main Campus at the age of 55. She was a native of Avondale, LA and a resident of Westwego, LA. Her passion in life was to love and help all that where in need. Min. Hawkins was a foster parent and adopted several children, which she loved and treated as her own. Beloved wife of Ernest Hawkins for 39 years. Loving mother of Calvin (Larriesha) Houston, Shirell (Dwayne) August, Jason (Erica) Barnwell, Dominique (Samuel) Girod, Thomas Banks, Demetrise, Christine, Tia and Tamara Hawkins, and the late Shantell Hawkins. Grandmother of the late Dashell August. Daughter of Mose Houston and the late Rosemary Houston. Sister of Ernest (Cheryl) Houston, Mose Houston, Jr., Terri and Gina Houston, Debra (Donald) Thompson, and the late Faye Cooper. Aunt of the late Nicholas Houston. Daughter-in-law of Viola Hawkins and the late Joseph Hawkins; also survived by 18 grandchildren, and a host of aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of House of Deliverance Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at House of Deliverance Church, 723 Opelousas Ave., New Orleans, LA on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 11:00a.m.
