Leonard Irvin Johnson

Leonard Irvin Johnson, Sr., age 90, a native and lifelong resident of Algiers, LA, transitioned peacefully on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 10:40pm. Leonard attended New Orleans Public Schools; he was skilled in masonry, served in the U.S. Marines Corps and fought honorably in World War II. He completed active service June 13, 1946 and was awarded with a testimonial of fidelity and obedience certificate. Son of the late James, Sr.and Pearl Thomas Johnson.  Loving father of Leonard Johnson, Jr., Leonard “Bo” Gibson, Sr., Malonia Johnson (Warren “Poncho”) Smith, Cynthia Owens Johnson, Evelyn Johnson (David) Green, Stephanie Johnson, Felicia Johnson Henry, Shondrecca Johnson (Richard Jr.) Taylor , Melissa Amos Thompson, Gwendolyn Amos, Glenell Gibson and the late Earl Johnson and Pearl Simeon Johnson. Stepfather of Barbara Simeon Ross. Brother of the late James, Jr., and Albert Johnson, Sr., Earl Jackson, Sr., and Evelyn J. Taylor Henderson. Lifelong love of the late Gladys Refuge. He's also cherished by 29 grandchildren, 64 great grandchildren, 28 great great grandchildren; cherished friends: Mary Gibson Porter, Billy Joe, and future daughter-in-law Rene.  Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Total Armour of God Ministries, Life Center Full Gospel Cathedral, New Home Family Churches, Now Faith Ministry, The Well Church of Rock Hill, SC, St. Luke of Dallas, TX, St. Paul Spiritual Church, Cornerstone International Apostolic Ministries, Jesus Answers Prayer, A More Excellent Way Healing and Deliverance, Watson Memorial Teaching Ministry, and all neighboring churches; employees of Louisiana Veterans Medical Center, Dr. U.
