James Walker, Sr.

James Walker, Sr. peacefully entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at the age of 82. He was a native of Marrero, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA. Devoted husband of Ivy Nola Walker by second marriage and the late Anna Mae Lumas Walker by first marriage. Loving father of Vera Williams (Richard), Tammy (Larry) Dixon, Wanda Prevost, Debra Jackson, James Walker, Jr., Myron Walker, Sr., Melvin Lewis, Jr., and Elliott (Angela) Hadley, Sr. Son of the late Elijah and Louvenia Walker. Brother of Rosie Lee Gaston, Elouise Toliver and the late Pricilla Bluian, Mildred Jones, Lily Mae Stevenson, Lorena Gaines, August , Benjamin, Charles, and Ervin Walker. Father-in-law of the late Jim Williams and Obie Jackson. Brother-in-law of the late Stanley Stevin; also survived by 20 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, 3 godchildren, 5 sisters-in-law, 1 brother-in-law, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Rock of Ages Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Rock of Ages Baptist Church, 6533 Acre Rd. Marrero, LA on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Ricky Johnson, officiating; Pastor Gilbert Barnes, host pastor. Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time at the above named church. Interment: Restlawn Park Cemetery-Avondale, LA
