James Earl Burns, Sr.

June 26, 1958 — February 2, 2017

Elder James “Bam-Bam” Earl Burns, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the age of 58. He was a native of Vicksburg, Ms and a resident of Oakville, LA. Elder Burns was employed as a Heavy Equipment Operator with River Birch, LLC of Avondale, LA. He was an Associate Minister at Greater St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church, and a member of the Christian Ministers Missionary Baptist Association. Loving husband of 37 years to Cheyenne Williamson Burns. Devoted father of James (Bethany) Burns, Jr. of Raceland, LA and Ranada Burns (Tony) McMillian of Spring, TX. Adopted father of the late Rev. Easton Sullen. Grandfather of Legend Dray James McMillian, Jesse James Burns, Jamee Amore Burns, and the late Londyn McMillian. Beloved son of Albert Davis and the late Martha Davis. Brother of Charles Burns, Allen Lee (Debra) Burns, Melvin (June) Smith, Mary Ann (Ronald) Ross, Rochelle (Wayne) Franklin, and the late Freddie Burns. Son-in-law of the late Paul and Delores Williamson. Brother-in-law of Larry Cannon, Jerry (Len) Cannon, George LaFrance, Tracy Williamson, Randy (Zildria) Williamson, and Penny (Emmitt) Brooks; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Elder Burns loved life; he was a family man, outdoors man, and most of all a disciple of God. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Greater St. Peter Baptist Church and all neighboring churches; employees of River Birch, LLC and Eurofins Laboratories are invited to Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Elder Burns at Greater St. Peter Baptist Church, 182 West St. Peter St. Oakville, LA on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 10:00a.m.
