Alvarez Peter Phillips, Jr., affectionately known as “Nookie” departed this life on Friday, February 3, 2017 at the age of 65. He was a native and resident of New Orleans, LA. Alvarez was employed with PBF Energy (formerly ExxonMobil) at the Chalmette Refinery. Beloved husband of 47 years to Shirley Phillips. Loving father of Katina Phillips, Keiara (Bryan) Thierry and Kacy Phillips. Grandfather of Bryan Thierry, Jr., and Cameron Phillips of Detroit, MI. Son of the late Alvarez, Sr. and Thelma Phillips. Brother of Terry Phillips. Nephew of Frances (Albert) Henderson, Lillie Hogan and Edward (Ardessa) Francois; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also priest and parishioners of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church and all neighboring churches; employees of PBF Entergy Chalmette Refinery, Metropolitan Developmental Center, Touro Infirmary, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; members of United Steel Workers Local 13-522 and United Association Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local 60 are invited to Celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, 400 Verret St., New Orleans, LA on Friday, February 10, 2017 at 10:00a.m. Father Michael Roberson, celebrant Viewing will be held from 8:00a.m.-9:45a.m. at the above named church.
