Alka Smith Perkins

Alka Smith Perkins went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the age of 89. She was a native of Houma, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA for over 60 years. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Perkins, Sr. Devoted mother of Donna Hudson, Deanna Hubbard, Joseph, Jr., and Joanne Perkins, Joan Knoten, Sandra Muller, Linda Wright, Karan Alexander, David and the late Dennis Perkins. Daughter of the late Frank and Matilda Maryland Smith; also survived by 24 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Thompson Temple Church of God In Christ and all neighboring churches; employees and staff of Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, Ochsner Medical Center Westbank, Boines Construction, Wynhoven HCC and C&C Wholesale are invited to attend the Celebration Service at Thompson Temple Church of God In Christ 1515 Whitney Ave. Gretna, LA on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 10:00a.m. Elder Keith E. Thornton, Sr., pastor and officiant Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time at the above named church. Interment: Restlawn Park Cemetery-Avondale, LA
