Oliver Smith, Jr.

Oliver “Boo” Smith, Jr., age 64, departed this life on Monday, March 13, 2017. He was a native of Chicago, IL and a resident of New Orleans, LA. Oliver was a graduate of L. B. Landry High School and served his country in both the United States Army and Air Force. After serving in the military, Oliver worked at Avondale Shipyard. He was married to Janice G. Smith and was the loving father of their three children, Vincent Eugene Smith (Tammy), Oliver Smith, III (Kevin), and Ashley Smith-Henry (Samuel). Grandfather of Jordan McKnight Smith, Samyriah, Samuel, Samya, and Samantha Henry, and Mason Olivia Smith. Son of the late Oliver, Sr. and Harriet Muse Smith. Grandson of the late William Muse, Sr., Annie Kaywood Muse, Ira Mae Smith and Albert Smith. Brother of Vanessa Clay and Wesley Smith. Nephew of Williams Muse, Jr., Thomas Muse, Florence Brooks, Sister Michael Mary Muse, Delores Coleman, and Rosalie Raheem. Caring companion of Karen Alexander; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 1249 LeBeouf St., New Orleans, LA on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time at the above named church.
