Essie Smith Bell

Essie Smith Bell, age 75, ascended to heaven on Thursday March 30, 2017. She was a native of Centreville, MS, a former resident of New Orleans, LA for 46 years and presently residing in Gretna, LA for the past 11 years. Essie was a 1991 graduate of Louisiana Culinary Institute and a retired employee of Melanie’s Culinary Creations. She will always be remembered for her kind, nurturing, and welcoming soul. Beloved wife of 26 years to the late Albert Bell, Sr. Loving mother of Alfreda N. Bell-Pilgrim, Albert Bell, Jr., Anita N. Bell, and the late Adrienne Bell. Devoted grandmother of Autumn N. White. Daughter of the late Willie and Agnes Jones Smith. Sister of Lola M. Curtain of San Pablo, CA, Mary Eliza “Jane” Smith of Woodville, MS, and the late Dennis Smith, Beatrice Smith, and Willa Mae Smith; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Fischer Community Church, Magnolia Baptist Church of Woodville, MS and all neighboring churches; staff and students of Delgado Community College and Loyola University are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Fischer Community Church, 1737 L. B. Landry Ave., New Orleans, LA on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 10:00a.m. Bishop James Nelson Brown, officiating Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time at the church. Interment: Restlawn Park Cemetery-Avondale, LA
