Leon Alfonso Beckles

Leon Alfonso Beckles passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the age of 76 years. He was a native of St. Michael, Barbados West Indies and a resident of Marrero, LA.

Beloved husband of Gladiola Ward Beckles. Father of Adolph Pickett, Patriaa (Floyd) Alexander, Cheryl (Lamar) Shaw, and Verita (Jon) Mithell. Grandfather of Chantrell, Mark, Verita, Jewanne, Jonah, and Brandon. Great grandfather of Ahmad, Alijah, and Alani. Son of the late Lionel and Inez Straker. Brother of the late Claude, Collen, Alwyn, Annette, and Lois. Nephew of George (Walter) Beckles, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of St. Mark Baptist Church and neighboring churches; employees of NOPSI / Entergy are invited to attend the funeral service at St. Mark Baptist Church 1929 Huey P. Long Ave. Gretna, LA. on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 10:00a.m.

Interment: Woodlawn Park Memorial Cemetery-Westwego, LA
