Sam Batiste, Jr., entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at his residence. Beloved husband of Geraldine Batiste. Devoted father of Sam Batiste, III, Cynthia Batiste, Claudette (Sterling) Dyer, Gregory Batiste, and Leann (Gerald) Huskey. Son of the late Sam and Elnora Batiste. Brother of Leroy (Celestine) Batiste and the late Clarence (Estelle) Batiste, Julia Adams, Selita Tyler, and Annie Mae Dorsey. Son-in-law of the late Alice Harris. Brother in law of Clarence(Ola Mae) Harris, Jerald (Joyce) Harris, Lionel (Patricia) Harris, Thomas Kennedy, Nellie Hill, Barbara Harris, and the late Janice Harris, Joyce Kennedy, and Alvin Harris; also survived by family friend Veronica Joseph, 8 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Age: 84 years a native of Thibodaux, LA and a resident of New Orleans, LA. Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of St. Joseph Congregational Baptist Church, Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church and neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Services at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, 2717 Joliet St., New Orleans, LA on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 11:00a.m. Pastor Ronald Elloie, Sr. officiating; Pastor Roosevelt Malone, Jr., host pastor Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the above named church. Interment: Restlawn Cemetery Park Avondale, LA. Sam Batiste Jr. Service will be held on June 17, 2017 at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church 2717 Joliet Street, New Orleans, LA at 11:00am. A Lodge of Sorrow Masonic Ceremony will take place at 9:00am at Pride of Waggaman Lodge, 245 Avondale Garden Rd., Avondale, LA on June 17, 2017.
