Joycelyn McKinnies

Joycelyn “Cookie” McKinnies, age 61, ended her hard fought battle with her sickness and passed away to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Metairie Health Care Facility. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA. Cookie as she was affectionately known by family and friends was a graduate of L. W. Higgins High School. She continued her studies at Nicholls State University earning a Bachelor Degree in Science.   Devoted mother of Jaron and Candace McKinnies. Loving grandmother of Shiloh, Perez, Jireh, and Nehemiah. Daughter of the late Jesse and Ethel McKinnies. Best friend of Ms. Caroline and Ms. Joanne; also survived by a host of other relative and friends. Joycelyn will always be remembered for her wonderful smile that would light up a room. The family would like to thank Metairie Health Care Facility and Harmony Hospice for the absolute best care in the last months of her life. Thanks are also extended to Pastor Melvin C. Zeno and the St. Joseph Baptist Church family for their prayers, and assistance during this difficult time.
