Ida Alexander Smith

Ida Alexander Smith, age 68, departed this life on Wednesday September 20, 2017 at her residence. She was a native of Bridge City, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Ida was a graduate of West Jefferson High School and Xavier University of New Orleans. She was an educator with the Jefferson Parish Public School Systems and Orleans Parish School Board. Loving wife of Samuel Smith. Devoted mother of Tonya Smith (Damian) and Samantha Smith. Stepmother of Karen Simmons-Weatherspoon. Grandmother of Tyrone and Tyreon Coleman. Great grandmother of Emory and Nadia Coleman of Nashville, TN. Daughter of the late Norman Alexander, Sr. and Antonia Bailey. Sister of Marble Pierre, Ann Dupree, and the late Norman Alexander, Jr. and Anthony Alexander, Sr.   Sister-in-law of Gloria Jean Quick-Alexander of Fort Washington, MD; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Relatives and friends of the family, also priest and parishioners of Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church, St. Jude Catholic Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 1701 Bridge City Ave. Bridge City, LA on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. at the above named church. Interment: St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery-Edgard, LA
