Dr. Oretha Whittington Helire entered into eternal rest on Wednesday November 1, 2017 at Ochsner Foundation Hospital Jefferson, LA. Evangelist Oretha Helire was Co-Pastor of Word of Faith Temple Baptist Church. She earned a Doctorate Degree in Theology.

Beloved wife of Pastor John Helire, Sr. Devoted mother of Joy (Joseph) Jones, Joyce Lemieux, John (Ilka) Helire, Jr., Julie (Martin) Ferland, Jane Helire, Jada Helire, and Joseph Helire. Daughter of the late Felix and Florence Whittington. Sister of Walter (Velma Lee) Whittington, Ora Lee Broden, Dora Mae Smith, Barbara (Sidney) Jones, Sr., and Adelle (Alexander) Taylor, also survived by 20 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Proceeded in death by 7 sisters and 7 brothers.

Age: 79 years a native of Welcome, LA and a resident of Avondale, LA.

Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of Word of Faith Temple Baptist Church, Mt. Calvary Baptist church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the wake service at Word of Faith Temple Baptist Church 200 Bishop Dr. Avondale, La. on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 6:30p.m.

Viewing will begin at 4:30p.m. until service time at the above named church.

Funeral Service will be held at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church 8103 Mt. Calvary St. St. James, La. on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 11:00a.m.

Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the above named church.

Interment: Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery-St. James, LA.
