Jessie Pollard, Jr.

Jessie “Sonny” Pollard, Jr., age 72, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, December 1, 2017 at his residence. He was a native of St. Joseph, LA, a former resident of New Orleans, LA and presently residing in Marrero, LA. Jessie was a graduate of Tensas Rosenwald High School in St. Joseph, LA. After graduation he relocated to New Orleans were he worked numerous jobs during his career, and retired from Avondale Shipyard in 2009 as a Data Based Employee. His favorite pastime was cooking, fishing, and hunting. Sonny will truly be missed.

Beloved husband of Esther Ruth Abraham Pollard. Loving father of Terrell (Helen) Pollard, Jonathan (Sharon ) Smith, Tremayne (Tina) Abraham, Allen (Roynita) Robertson, and the late Shawn and Jessie Pollard, III. Father-in-law of Michelle Pollard. Grandfather of Jessie IV, Jada, Anya, Josh, Jeleesa, Rita, Kierra, T.J., Brendon, C. J., Allen, Jr., and Ally Chloe´. Great-grandfather of Nathan, Kingston, Maliyah, Antwan, Aidon, and Layla. Son of the late Jessie Pollard, Sr. and Georgia Bradley. Brother of Charles Randle, James Bradley, Gregory, Leon (Mable) Bradley, Wilbert, Hayes (Sue) Pollard, Clarence, Bobby, Ray (Yvonne) Pollard, Curtis (Michelle) Pollard, Amanda Randle, Bessie (Wilbert) Evans, Vera (Douglas) Banks, Bernadine Moore, Hazel (Frank) Roach, and the late Delicious Nelson, Jennie Johnson, Johnnie B. Brittan, and Jerry Evans. Brother-in-law of Phillip (Frances) Abraham, Wilson Johnson, Jane Spivey, Charlotte (Landry) Washington, and Maxine Evans. Godfather of Kip, Kayshawn, and Aaliyah; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, Rock of Ages Baptist Church and all neighboring churches; employees of Jefferson Parish School Board are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service at Rock of Ages Baptist Church, 6533 Acre Rd. Marrero, LA on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 11:00a.m. Pastor Ernest Weber, officiating; Pastor Gilbert Barnes, host pastor.
