Gregory Anthony Gaines

Gregory Anthony Gaines, Sr. departed this life on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at West Jefferson Medical Center at the age of 58. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Gregory was a dedicated Firefighter for 39 years at Marrero/Estelle Ragusa and Lafitte/Barataria/Crown Point Fire Departments. A Civilian Officer with the Gretna Police Department Courthouse Security and Accent Annex.

Beloved husband of Sonya Wright Gaines. Devoted father of Shavannah L. Gaines and Gregory A. Gaines, Jr. Son of the late Willie and Irma Gaines. Brother of Carolyn Harry and the late Willie Anna Veal and Orinetta Common. Devoted son in law of Mr. and Mrs. Antoine C. Wright, Sr. Brother in law of Patrina Wright (Christian) Warrick, Gail M. Wright, Donna Wright, and Mr. and Mrs. Warren Canselo, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of Greater St. John B.C., St. Mary Baptist Church, and all neighboring churches; employees of Marrero/Estelle Ragusa and Lafitte/Barataria/Crown Point Fire Departments and Gretna Police Department Courthouse Security and Accent Annex are invited to attend the Funeral Service at St. Mary Baptist Church 6223 6th Ave. Marrero, LA on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 10:00a.m.

Rev. Dr. Harold E. Clark, Sr. officiating / Rev. Edward Joseph, III Host Pastor

Visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m. until service time at the above named church.

Interment: Woodlawn Park Memorial Cemetery-Westwego, LA.
