Frances Griffith Allen

Frances Griffith Allen, age 60, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Ochsner Medical Center Westbank. She was a native of Butler, AL and a resident of Gretna, LA. Fran, as she was lovingly known by family and friends, was a member of the first graduating class in 1976 of John Ehret High School. She continued her studies at Delgado Community College where she took courses in sign language. Her passion for sewing led her to Wren’s Tontine Shade & Design, where she worked for many years. She had an eye and a gift for design and created many unique outfits for her daughter, draperies for her home, and various upholstery projects that were the envy of those who visited. Fran will be sorely missed by all whose lives she touched. Beloved wife of the late Joseph R. Allen, Jr. Devoted mother of Haywood “Travis” St. Cyr. and Tayler Nicole Allen; her children who loved her as a mother Krystal St. Cyr, Joseph Allen, III, Amber Allen, Nykell Lee, Ashley St. Cyr., and Jason Allen. Loving grandmother of James Johnson, Haywood St. Cyr, II, Lennox Bradford, Landin St. Cyr, Arshia Brown, Aalayjah Jefferson and Jeanne Bruno. Daughter of the late Alfred Griffith, Sr. and Catherine George. Sister of Revel Griffith, Orinel Griffith, and the late Alfred and Dwight Griffith. Devoted friend of Haywood St. Cyr; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
