Nelson Smith, Jr.

Nelson Smith, Jr. departed this life of Sunday, February 4, 2018.  He was a native and resident of New Orleans, LA.  Nelson was a 1970 graduate of L. B. Landry High School, and employed as a sandblaster/painter for 20 years with Total Marine.   Loving father of Nelson (Chiquita) Smith, Toby (LaKeither) Smith, Yavon Tina Sherman, Albert Sherman, and Sierra Lang (Fiancé Kenneth Collins). Grandfather of the late Jaden Ferguson.  Son of the late Nelson, Sr. and Cora Leona Smith.  Brother of Albertha S. Keeler and the late John Lawrence Smith.  Uncle of Joseph McGinnis, Jr., Cleveland W. McGinnis, and Alfred L. McGinnis.  Nelson is also survived by the children whom he loved as his own Brian (Brandy) Davis, Raven Lang, Robert Lang and a host of other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Regular Baptist Church and all neighboring churches; members of L. B. Landry Class of 1970 and Employees of University Medical Center Oncology Department are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Regular Baptist Church, 901 5th St. Gretna, LA on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 10:00a.m. Rev. Dr. T. A.
