Wilfred J. Butler, Sr. entered peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, March 23, 2018 at the age of 86. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Avondale, LA. Lou, as he was affectionately known to family and friends was educated in the New Orleans Public School System and a retired Longshoreman. Beloved husband of the late Ethel S. Butler. Devoted father of Wilfred (Karen) Butler, Jr., Mary Robinson, Janice Payne, and the late Debra Carraby. Son of the late Adolph Butler, Sr. and Alice Major Johnson. Brother of the late Adolph Butler, Jr. Grandfather of Vernon St. Amant, Gilbert Clay, Wilton Carraby, Ashley Clay, Kenya Clay, Kikoa Barnett, Anjel Rowan, Nadia Robinson, Brandy Butler, WoKenia Carraby, and WoKyshia Carraby; also survived by 18 great grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Second St. John Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Second St. John Baptist Church, 242 Avondale Garden Rd. Avondale, LA on Friday, March 30, 2018 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Charlie Davis, officiating Visitation will begin a 9:00a.m. until service time at the above named church.
