Albert “Aloo, Wildman, Boston, Cat and Duck Man” Athe Allison of Algiers Louisiana went to sleep on March 31, 2018 at Universal Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana at the age of 65. He was preceded in death in by his parents Peola Allison and Virgia Jiles Allison, his grandfather Willie Owens Sr, Uncle Tom Dixon and Aunt Gertrude Rozier Dixon, nephews Kirk Allison, and Adolph “Newtie” Bennett and his best friend, Lawrence “Tommy” Drawsand. He was baptized at St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church, Algiers, LA. He attended Murray Henderson Elementary in Algiers, Broad Meadows Jr. High and North Quincy High in Quincy, Massachusetts, and graduated from Sam Houston High School in Arlington, Texas where he excelled in football, basketball and track. Albert was also an excellent swimmer. After high school Albert enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. While at Camp Lejeune he advanced as a rifleman and paratrooper. He earned the National Defense Service and the Good Conduct Medals. After the Marines he joined the Naval Station Mayport Police Force. He was a former employee of Coca Cola in Gretna, Louisiana. Albert attended Our Lady of Holy Cross College in New Orleans. He was a fan of the New Orleans Saints, the Pelicans, and the Dallas Cowboys. As a preteen Albert enjoyed attending the Boston Red Sox games at Fenway Park with his family. His favorite players were George Scott, Reggie Smith, and Carl Yastrzemski. At the age of 14, he was so excited to learn he had washed George Scott’s car at a local Quincy car wash. Albert loved to eat crawfish from Winn Dixie in Algiers, oyster and shrimp po-boys, turkey necks with sausages, and Texas Roadhouse salmon. He also enjoyed eating pralines. Albert was a very generous person who enjoyed helping family, friends, and strangers with their monetary needs. Everyone whose heart Albert was able to touch with his kindness will miss him greatly. Albert leaves to cherish his memory siblings John, Dennis, Essick, Brian (Euritci) Allison, Denise (Ronald) Burns, Tyann (Doug) Robinson, and Monica (Frank) Ceruti, uncle Willie Owens Jr., sister in laws Artemise Allison, nieces Garland Bennett, Tiffany Allison, Raquel Allison, godchild (filleule) Ronise Burns, Rori (Jameion) Brooks, Chanell Robinson, Chaniere (Omar) Messias, and nephews Mack Allison, Ronaldo (Corina) Burns, Brian Allison II, Mychal Ceruti, Douglas J. Robinson, Jr., John Anthony Ceruti, and Jalen Allison, great-nieces and great nephews, cousins the Reed, Perry, Roziers, and Miles families and special and devoted friends, Beulah Wilson and family, Betty Ayton, as well as many other relatives and friends. Albert is sleeping but for a moment. Soon he will hear Jesus say, “Get up Albert!” (John 11:11-14, 43). Albert, soon you will walk, run, and jump, as much as you would like (Isaiah 35:6). We love you and look forward to the day we can be with you once again! Friends and relatives are invited to attend the home-going service honoring Mr. Albert Athe Allison on Friday, April 13, 2018, at the Davis Mortuary Chapel, 230 Monroe Street Gretna, Louisiana, 70053. The visitation is from 8:00 - 10:00 am and the service is from 10:00 - 11:15 am. The burial will is scheduled for 12:30 pm at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Road, Slidell, LA. The repast is from 11:30 - 3:30 pm, at the John McDonough V.F.W. Post 3121, 475 Monroe Street, Gretna, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you donate to the Paralyzed Veterans of America. This was Albert’s favorite charity and they have assisted him for many years. We would like to thank the VA Medical Center in New Orleans. Thank you for taking great care of Albert during his most critical years. Additionally, thank you to everyone who assisted Albert in his times of need. Some of you provided an umbrella when his motorized wheelchair stopped working during the rain. Others lifted Albert when his wheelchair fell over. Your random acts of kindness toward the disabled are greatly appreciated.
