Edward Lee, Sr.

Deacon Edward Lee, Sr. went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the age of 96.  He was a lifelong resident of Algiers, LA (Cutoff Community). Deacon Lee was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church where he served as Chairmen of the Deacon Ministry and Superintendent of the Sunday School for over 50 years. He also was a former School Superintendent of the First District Baptist Association, and a longtime member of the National Baptist Convention USA. During World War II he served his country as a member of the United States Navy advancing to the rank of Chief Executive Chef.  Deacon Lee was a charter member of the National WWII Museum.  Beloved husband of 59 years to the late Lucille Gastinell Lee.  Devoted father of Edward (Jennifer) Lee, Jr., Gretchen L. (Larry) Abernathy, Dianne L. (Terry) Flemming, Roger J. Lee, Veronica L. (Leo) St. Cyr, Jerry Lee, and the late Grace C. Lee.  Son of the late Rev. James and Leona McCoy Lee.  Brother of Rosemary L. Hughes, Leona L. (Gene) Roy, and  the late Elizabetha Davis, Altus Lee, Sr., Margaret L. Anderson, David Lee, Sr., Aaron Lee, and Alice Lee; also survived by 23 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and his Second Baptist Church family.  Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Second Baptist Church and all neighboring churches; members of First District Baptist Association, Cornerstone General Baptist Association, Westside Baptist Association; employees of Circle Construction and the National WWII Museum are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Second Baptist Church, 2836 Sullen Place Algiers, LA on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 10:00a.m.  Pastor Andre Sigler, officiating Viewing will be held from 8:00a.m.-9:50a.m. ONLY at the above named church.
