Georgia Washington Gafeney

Georgia “Gigi” Washington Gafeney entered peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the age of 63.  She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA.  Georgia was a graduate of Our Lady of Holy Cross College and the University of Phoenix.  She was a Registered Nurse and employed as a Nurse Director of Telemetry Service with Ochsner Medical Center Westbank.  Gigi, as she was affectionately known to family and friends was a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Xi Psi Chapter.  Devoted mother of Dwanya Hodges and Keri Hodges. Loving grandmother of Kaelen, Khaleal, Kierian, Reggie, and Amaiya.  Beloved daughter of Castanna Washington and the late Pastor George Washington, Sr.  Sister of Larry Washington, George Washington, Jr., Daniel Lee Washington, Dion Paul Washington and Wilma Bazile.  Aunt of the late Daniel Lee Douville; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.  Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of St. Rock Baptist Church, Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Rock of Ages Baptist Church and all neighboring churches; employees of Ochsner Medical Center Westbank; members Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Society are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Rock of Ages Baptist Church, 6533 Acre Rd. Marrero, LA on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 11:00a.m.  Pastor Rickey Johnson, officiating; Pastor Gilbert Barnes, host pastor  Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. at the church.
