Deacon John “Pro” Scott, Sr. transitioned into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at the age of 75. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA. John served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army and was awarded the Purple Heart. Beloved husband of 54 years to Barbara Gail Hensley Scott. Loving father of John Scott Jr., April Scott, Wayne Jackson, Ellix Fleming, Carlette (Lonnie) Durio, Wayne Fleming, Aletha (Patrick) Harris, Dionne Taylor, Laura Marie “Mickey” and Donald Paul. Devoted grandfather of Kaylan, Khoi and John Scott III, Robert Charles Evans, Jr., and Aniyah Thompson. Son of the late Walter O’Neal, Sr. and Freddy Scott. Brother of Walter (Leona) O’Neal, Jr., and Louvinia (Tody) Myles. Brother-in-law of Pastor Dianne Hensley, Lawrence, Pleasant, Jr. (Carolyn), David, Rene, Milton Hensley, Elaine (Albert) Paul and the late Charles, Clarence, and Laura Hensley, and Patricia Fleming; also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. Relative and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Second Highway Baptist Church, Temple of Prayer and Praise Evangelist Ministries, St. Paul Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Homegoing Service at Second Highway Baptist Church, 1533 Haydel Dr. Marrero, LA on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Joseph Johnson, officiating Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time at the church.
