Jennie Jefferson Tate

Jennie Marie Tate transitioned peacefully to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Masion Deville Nursing Home at the age of 77.  She was a native of Ferriday, LA, who was reared in Sicily Island, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA.  Beloved wife of the late Alvin J. Tate.  Devoted mother of Rev. Alvin W. (Laura) Tate and Nedra Tate( Brian S.) McKinney.  Loving grandmother of Shaniqua Hayes, Christina Baptiste, Michael and Spencer Davis, Skylar, Jeremiah and Brian L. McKinney. Daughter of the late Sullivan and Myra Jefferson.  Sister of Bernice Van Buren, Victoria Hamilton, James, Sullivan and Lewis Jefferson, and the late Lillie, Ethel and Mary Jefferson.  Godmother of Tayara Tate-Coates; also survived by 16 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, New Jerusalem Baptist Church, and all neighboring churches; employees of Jefferson Parish Government, U-Haul of Louisiana 747, and Plaquemines Parish Transportation are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1000 Walkertown Way Marrero, LA on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 10:00a.m.  Pastor Thomas J. Brown, Jr., officiating. Viewing will be held from 8:00a.m.-9:50 A.m.
