Bobby Price

March 4, 1932 — June 15, 2018

Bobby $ Price was born to Ruel Price and Bessie (Guess) Price in Shreveport, LA on March 4,

1932. The family later moved to Meridian, MS, to a small farm. He graduated from Meridian High School and enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War. He received an honorable discharge after his service. Bob received a full scholarship in football to Tulsa University, where he played as a defensive lineman. In 1953, Tulsa University’s Golden Hurricanes played the Florida Gators in post-season SEC conference, narrowly missing the Gator Bowl title by one point. He was proud of his conference ring and still wore his football jacket on occasion.  Once asked if he had ever been injured in the years of playing football, his response was, “Yeah, one time I ran into the goal post catching the football.” Bob majored in aeronautical engineering at TU, where he met his first wife, Saundra (Perry) Price in Geology class, as they were seated alphabetically. She would hold up the rock samples during quizzes and he would whisper the answers to her! The couple had one child, Rhonda (Price) Covelli. After college, Bob worked for Aurora Aircraft in Riverside, CA, and for McDonnell Douglas Engineering, specializing in wing and fuselage design, for the B52 and B47 aircraft. After years of marriage, the couple divorced and Bob moved to Louisiana. Bob met, and married, his beautiful second wife, Gaelyn (Guidroz) Price, The couple had three children, Sherri Price, Bob Price, and Michel (Price) Barnhart During the following years, Bob worked for Hooker Chemical, as well as having his own business doing design and estimation for other companies. He was severely injured in 1982, by a scaffolding collapse, at the Children’s Hospital in New Orleans. Bob spent 18 months enduring hospitalizations and surgeries, but was permanently disabled from that time forward. He was a skilled author, painter, mechanic and specialized in hypnosis. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Ruel and Bessie Price; his brothers, James and Jerry Price, by his loving and devoted wife; Gaelyn; and his first wife, Saundra. He is survived by his children; Rhonda (Hank Covelli), Sherri, Bob and Michel (Kenneth Barnhart), his siblings; Sylvia Price and William Price, his sister-in-law; Darnell Guidroz, his niece; Rebekah Guidroz, his grandchildren, Stephanie Sample, Jennifer Barnhart and Catherine Cambridge, and his great-grandchildren; Andrew and Alexandra Cambridge. Known for his direct approach, quick wit, mathematical prowess, and love for his family, he will be sorely missed by all.  Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial service at Davis Mortuary Service 6820 Westbank Expressway Marrero, LA on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 11:00a.m.  To view and sign the guestbook, please go to www.davismortuaryservice.com.
