Solomon David Lewis, Sr.

Solomon “Major” David Lewis, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at Ochsner Medical Center Westbank at the age of 73.  He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA.  Solomon was a retired Maintenance Worker of the Avenue Plaza Hotel.  Beloved husband of Verlia Mae Lewis.  Loving father of Solomon Lewis, Jr., Malenda Thompson (Charles) Sumler, Bruneicka (John) Thomas, Arthur and Charles Sincere, Juwanda and Josette Ford, and the late Fabian Sincere.  Son of the late Steve Lewis, Sr. and Irma Lee Brown.  Stepson of Laura Lewis.  Brother of Steve Lewis, Jr., Stanley (Angela) Lewis, Darryl Smith, Wanda Gene Brown (Joseph) Thomas, Rozelia Johnson, Juanita Cunningham, Elvera (Albert ) Williams, Deiontrenece (Blake) Franklin, and the late Anthony Gaskin; also survived by 21 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Progressive Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Progressive Church, 437 Cohen St. Marrero, LA on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Sterling Mealacon, officiating Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time at the above named church.
