Mattie Newson Young

Mattie Estella Newson Young entered peacefully into eternal rest on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at her residence at the age of 69. She was a native of Picayune, MS and a resident of New Orleans, LA.  Mattie was a retired Star Sales Associate of J.C. Penny Department Store.  Beloved wife of the late William “Bill” Young.  Loving mother of Ailrick D, Young, Sr., Countess Y. Gaitor, Kimberly N. Jones, Pherrin L. Rose, Phalyn L. Young, and the late Monica L. Young Rose.  Daughter of Lola M. Ellis Newson and the late Willie J. Newson, Sr.  Sister of Willie J. Newson, Jr., Willie Mae Woodson, Joyce Thornton, Janice M. Ruffin, and the late Dorothy A. Newson; also survived by 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Faith Bible Church and all neighboring churches are invited attend a Memorial Service at Faith Bible Church, 1148 N. Columbia, Covington, LA on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 11:15a.m. Visitation will begin at 10:30a.m. until service time at the above named church.
